Once upon a Wordpress
Hi everybody!
I’ve been writing some delicious new fiction, but since I’m submitting I can’t share any of it. So I figure this is a good time to dip into the archive.
I used to have a WordPress blog called Messiahrella. I guess I saw myself as some kinda cross between a messiah and Cinderella? LOL. I also loved the typewriter font.
Am I embarrassed?
Not in the slightest.
I was drunk on youth, idealism, confidence, and soooooooo aliiiiiiiiive with self-discovery and revelation.
I love that for me back then.
I used to attach stylized PDFs to my blog posts because aesthetics. So without further a do, I present to you five select pieces in that format. Straight from the g drive where they’ve been quietly surviving all these years.
(Click on the titles to open the PDFs.)
Found Better, March 2014 :
A surreal, speculative prose piece written in the style of a news broadcast that gradually dissolves into prophecy.
Explosions, March 2014 :
A spiritual-philosophical manifesto in poetic prose form, blending elements of visionary essay, stream-of-consciousness reflection, and ecstatic declaration.
A Garden Has Sprouted, May 2014 :
A feminist elegy and incantation for the 200+ abducted girls of Nigeria, this ritual poem transforms grief into myth and violation into bloom.
An Impolite Eviction, July 2014 :
An eviction notice to fear.
Irony in the Shade of Ivory, March 2015 :
A darkly comic micro-report from a parallel universe where elephants harvest human thumbs.
Look out for my next post from the archives where I’ll share some of my erotic poems and musings!
